New Season

Joe raked the last pile,

The late day winter sun seemed to say,

“Well done, that’s a wrap.”

He noticed that connection,

Drifted to his long dilemma,

There had to be Progress,

Something done to see its end.

Back at the house, he looked for his notes,

Thoughts recorded all these many years,

So much time,

A thorn still there,

A Better, a familiar, surely recalled.

“Dad, it’s me. And yes, I know you’ve been disappointed,

but I’ve got lots to explain. Please, can you bear with me.”

Joe naturally powered on, clear and true,

Quite a delivery,

All that time solidifying a very Overdue message,

One that wasn’t yet understood,

One withheld,

Forever

All the details, all the emotions,

hidden information out in abundance,

Received so very well.

New — knowledge and perspective.

Clarity on their different ways of life.

Differences that no way need dictate a rift.

Old — that original foundational bond — love recalled identically by both.
